UK health and safety posters
As an employer, you have a legal duty to ensure your staff are fully aware and trained on the latest health & safety legislation and guidelines. This is stated under the Health and Safety Information for Employees Regulations (HSIER). You can impart such knowledge through leaflets or by displaying the latest health and safety poster in your workplace. The new poster replaces its 1999 predecessor and includes up to date information and laws. Don’t be caught out disregarding health and safety laws, update your poster today!
How is the new poster different?
The new poster is specifically laid out to be easier to read and contains imagery to make it more colourful. A more colourful and interesting poster makes employees more likely to read it, therefore becoming more aware of new legislation and legalities and putting new health and safety procedures into practice. This makes it far less likely that you will encounter any health and safety practice breaches or issues in the workplace.
The latest poster also has a hologram and a serial number to ensure that you have a genuine, accredited poster and to prevent mis-selling of the poster.
Do I need a new poster?
Yes. All businesses displaying the 1999 version of the poster should have changed to the latest version no later than 5 April 2014 in line with new regulations. Therefore any business currently displaying the old version is in breach of health and safety guidelines.
So to protect your business – and more importantly your employees and customers – ensure that the most up to date version of the health and safety poster is proudly displayed in your workplace. Such a small and simple step really does make a huge difference.
